Diana Rice’s paintings and installations primarily focus on her personal history, mythologizing everyday occurrences, memories, and dreams. Drawing inspiration from poetry, literature, folklore, and her own writings, she uses traditional and created symbolisms to create a lyrical reality that is both a true record of her internal world and an otherworldly narrative open to interpretation. Join KINK Contemporary as they celebrate the opening of Rice’s senior portfolio exhibition, Notes of Periphery, from 5 pm to 9 pm EST on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023.

This exhibition is organized by KINK Contemporary.

“I find the most joy in life in the little things that populate my day-to-day life. These are things that I consider universal occurrences, like finding a dollar bill on the sidewalk or getting a latte at a coffee shop. These moments and memories are what feed the content of my work.”

For as long as she can remember, Rice has always been an artist. The daughter of a watercolor painter and a singer, creativity, and appreciation for the arts runs through her veins. From a very young age, she remembers going to paint plein air at a park with her dad and accompanying her mom to performances. Art was a significant component of her childhood and continues to shape how she makes art now.
